A project route was originally proposed in the July 2024 Article VII permitting application. In April 2025, viable alternative routes were identified in response to extensive input from local stakeholders — including municipalities, community organizations, and civic groups. These routes represented potential pathways to achieve the project’s objectives and were further evaluated for inclusion in the Project’s permitted route. On May 15, 2026, a Preferred Project Route for Yonkers was filed to the Article VII application with the New York State Public Service Commission for continued permitting evaluation. The Preferred Route and all past routes can be viewed at right.

• New York’s transmission system requires upgrades and expansion to improve reliability and create the resilient  pathways needed to deliver clean energy to local communities and throughout the state.



Pending regulatory approvals, construction is estimated to begin in 2026, with a 2030 in-service date. Construction will be done in short durations in specific areas across the full project.
