ENERGY WORKSHOP FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
The Propel NY Energy team is pleased to offer The Energy Workshop, a hands-on, interactive learning experience designed to educate high school students about energy demand, transmission systems, and how electricity reaches their homes and communities. Through engaging activities, Jeopardy-style games, and critical thinking exercises, students learn how energy powers their daily lives.
This program is supported by New York Transco and the New York Power Authority — the two organizations partnering on the Propel NY Energy project — and WSP, the engineering firm helping to plan and execute the project.
Each program starts with a presentation, followed by a Q&A session with project experts, and energy-related activities, including:
Energy Footprint Calculator
Students will analyze and calculate their daily energy use and brainstorm classroom goals
Jeopardy: Energy Edition
Students will compete by answering energy-related questions and facts
Hands on Electric Grid Mapping Simulation
Students will become energy engineers and build their own realistic electric grid, navigating obstacles and existing infrastructure
The Energy Workshop is available to schools and organizations throughout Long Island, Westchester County, and New York City. Sessions can be scheduled during the school day or after school. Download our program flyer here.
